Aloha,
After five years of serving as the Executive Director of the
Friends of the Children's Justice Center of Maui, it still
amazes me that the community comes together, without fail,
to assist children in need and provide for their healing.
Last year, the FCJC worked with over 25 agencies to assist
777 children with funding to secure services, programs or
items that were essential but not being provided. During the
Christmas season, we provided 1250 gifts to children and their
siblings. In addition, we provide a 16 page supplement in
the Maui News for the prevention of child maltreatment, and
two newsletters per year with vital information about our
mission. This agency relies heavily on its volunteers.
The FCJC is proud to be able to distribute foundation funds
from the Teresa Hughes Trust and the Victoria and Bradley
Geist Foundation to needy children. We do not receive any
Federal, State or County funding. We rely on the generosity
of the community to fill in the gaps.
Now, in this economic downturn, when we are starting to see
more reported cases of child maltreatment in Maui County,
it is imperative that we continue to provide for the needs
of abused and neglected children. I urge you to help us out
with your financial assistance so that we may continue to
fulfill the mission.
Best Wishes
